Nick Johnson
Nick Johnson K.C. is a tier 1 Leading Silk who has represented individuals, corporates and specialist agencies for over 30 years in the fields of financial, serious and organised crime. He specialises in bribery, corruption and organised crime investigations, often over multiple jurisdictions, as well as prosecuting and defending in some of the highest profile criminal trials in the UK. He is described in the Legal 500 2026 as "forensically brilliant. A true tactician. His delivery before a jury is impeccable.’
His recent cases include widely publicised baby murder and sexual abuse trials with significant multi-agency and safeguarding issues, EncroChat and other encrypted devices, non-consensual surgical assaults, police corruption and corporate criminal offending and related compliance. Among his current work, he is leading the largest ever financial crime investigation on the Isle of Man, advising former government ministers on matters relating to international financial crime and working closely with the CCRC on miscarriage of justice work.
Nick was born in London but made his home in rural Yorkshire. He is a contributing author of “Lissack & Horlick on Bribery and Corruption” (Lexis Nexis 3rd ed. 2020) and is the Silk Representative of the North-Eastern Circuit on the Bar Council. Nick speaks conversational Japanese and undertakes advocacy training at the University of York and in local schools. When he gets the chance, he enjoys skiing, long walks, contemporary photography and Ronnie Scott's.
