As an independent organisation, we are not afraid to challenge conversations, push for accountability, and advocate for change where it is needed most.
We work with government, industry bodies, employers, venues and community partners to help strengthen safeguarding, welfare and standards across the equestrian community.
Influencing change
Too often, issues in our community have been met with silence, inconsistency, and lack of action. We work alongside decision-makers, governing bodies, organisations and industry leaders to push for higher standards, safer practices and meaningful long-term change.
Our work includes
- Steering necessary conversations about equestrian welfare
- Sharing frontline insight and emerging themes
- Driving awareness and education initiatives
- Encouraging improvements in safeguarding and reporting practices
- Advocating for greater accountability and consistency across the industry
- Collaborating with organisations committed to positive change

Building an evidence base
Meaningful change starts with evidence, lived experience and frontline insight.
Right now, there is very little independent data or research that gives a clear picture of the challenges affecting the equestrian world. Without that evidence, it becomes harder to identify patterns, understand where support is falling short and push for meaningful reform across the industry.
Through our advocacy work, community engagement and relationships across the sector, EQUISS aims to help build that picture – identifying barriers to reporting, gaps in support and recurring issues affecting people across the equestrian community.
Working together
EQUISS is committed to working alongside organisations, employers, venues, governing bodies, professionals and community partners who share our belief that the equestrian world should be safer and more accountable.
Our approach is independent, practical and focused on driving real change. We are not afraid to challenge difficult conversations, push for higher standards and advocate for safer cultures across every level of the industry.
We believe people should feel confident to speak up, trust that concerns will be taken seriously and know that meaningful action will follow.
