Brian Murphy

Criminal and Policing Advisor

Brian Murphy spent 31 years serving in the Police, where he spent most of his career working in the Criminal Investigation Department. Much of Brian’s work involved investigating murders, drug-related crimes, and serious organised crime.

He also spent 4 years in Northern Ireland reviewing and reinvestigating murders from the Troubles, and further 2 years as Chair of Multi-agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), working to ensure successful public protection from violent and sexual offenders.

Brian holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology and an MSc in Criminal Justice Studies and has significant experience of policy writing for government agencies.

In retirement, Brian continues to investigate and review current and historical abuse cases as a private investigator.

EQUISS is proud to welcome Brian to our team given his strong sense of purpose, drive, and commitment to justice.
